The Milk was delivered safely to the Ukraine Association of Northampton – and over to Lviv. These much-needed supplies were contributed as a result of your kind help and amounted to 1.5 pallet loads – and they really pack those pallets tightly! Thank you so much for your kindness to all our Orbit friends that helped with this – we know it will make a huge difference to people there who really need it.
Over 70 cyclists took part in a Yorkshire bike ride challenge earlier this month, paying tribute to much loved friend, Richard Jones, who sadly lost his life earlier this year, unexpectedly to Leukemia. For the RJ7 (he was a flanker & no 7 on the pitch) charity bike ride, Rich’s family and close friends got together to arrange a fundraising ride they knew would have made Rich proud. They joined forces with his rugby club, Wetherby RUFC and a Leeds based charity – Phoenix Health & Wellbeing which supports local people on low incomes who have chronic mental, physical and emotional health issues. On 10th September the riders set out from Morecambe in Lancashire to ride back to Wetherby & then again on 11th September, but this time from Bridlington back to Wetherby. They raised a transformational £19,000+ for the charity whilst also celebrating Rich’s life, involving kids and families from across the community. Plans are already underway to do it all again in 2022 and make the RJ7 Challenge an annual event.

Orbit’s Client Services Director, Gill Barstow, has been out tree planting in her local community. The environmental benefits of tree planting are well documented in terms of slowing global warming, improving air quality, water filtration, biodiversity and its overall effects on our general health and wellbeing. All of these things are close to Gill’s heart. For anyone who knows Gill, you will know she ‘walks the talk’ in everything she does. And by donning her boots, grabbling her spade, and getting out there with her friends, we are not surprised to see she is doing exactly that!
Hull Ionians RUFC has a very special place in the hearts of Team Orbit. Our Chair of the Orbit Advisory Board, David Hewitt, in particular has been a friend of Ionians for more than 4 decades. To support them as they emerge from a very difficult 12 months is an absolute honour. Onwards and upwards guys, and may we take this opportunity to thank you for all the pleasure you bring to so many people and families in the local community.
Orbit are proud sponsors of Wetherby RUFC U16s kit for season 2020 / 2021. The new kit was initially for the team to go on tour at Easter 2021, but in the end this was not possible due to Covid. However, we wish the U16s all the very best for an enjoyable and successful season. You all look great in your new kit.
The City Health Care Partnership Foundation helps the communities it serves with a wide variety of causes. Recently a member of the team heard about the work they are doing with Podiatry for the homeless, and were inspired to buy and donate 10 pairs of new shoes and socks for the homeless people of Hull.
