Once in a while you will come across a consultant who can truly help you. I'm not talking about the ability to draw up a good business case or project plan; I'm talking about a consultant who can see the magnitude of the task, what you need to achieve and dive straight in. The task in hand was the creation of a call centre. No ordinary call centre, for this was one based in the East End of London and in one of the most deprived areas I have ever worked. The facilities were poor, staff demoralised and the goal of creating a first class call centre as far fetched as suggesting we lunch a space ship to the moon. Yet in a very practical, careful and with 100% commitment, Gill led a team of experts to motivate our staff to create one of the best call centres I have ever seen. In an incredibly short time scale, below budget and with great skill, Gill guided my management team not only through the very real problems of creating the call centre but also the softer and real personal issues of skills, training and attributes to best serve our clients. Helen and I worked together as co-leaders planning and implementing a large multi-disciplinary project to decentralize a key function.
